“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”
-C.S. Lewis
Sometimes I think that the world is fair because it’s unfair.
But then I remember so many people suffer, so many people never see how fair the world can be.
I do believe that there is truth we can turn to in a world riddled with so much wrong, but even with truth to turn to, it doesn’t make my life perfect. It doesn’t give me answers or reasons why something went wrong.
We are never without tragedy and we are never without brokenness because the world is not black and white.
The fall of man cursed this society with pride, lust, deceit and selfish desire.
Many times, our tragedies can turn into something beautiful…but that doesn’t mean we need to celebrate them.
Yes, there are right and wrong decisions we face everyday, and we reap the benefits and consequences. But our souls experience much deeper than just right and wrong decisions.
I have to be okay in knowing that being a child of God is enough. Because of that, I will welcome the beauty I receive through my family, my accomplishments, my gifts and passions and just having the privilege of being alive.
Even with darkness, there are many different shades to this world, and that’s what can make it beautiful.
The Lyrics
I feel okay, I feel respite
I’m not okay most every night
But I’ll be fine if the world is black and white
I’ll be okay, I’ll be okay
I’ll be okay, I’ll find respite
If the world was black and white
But the world is not black and white
And so I’m not okay, I don’t feel respite
I feel alright
I feel respite
That’s only if the world is black and white
But the world is not black and white
I feel alright, that’s a lie
When will the world be fine
When it’s black and white
Black and white, I’m fine
Black and white, I’m fine
Black and white, black and white
I’ll feel respite, I’ll feel alright
